Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

SymphonIQ builds multi-agent AI for the architecture, engineering,
construction, and energy infrastructure industries. Not a copilot. Not a
document tool. A platform where specialized agents work together across the
full lifecycle of a project, each one informed by what the others have
learned, and purpose-built for the operational complexity these industries
demand.

Here is what that looks like in practice. A project executive reviews a
subcontract. The agent handling that review does not work in isolation. It
draws on how this firm has handled similar clauses on prior projects, flags
provisions that have created disputes before, and surfaces that context in
plain language the PM can act on in minutes rather than hours. When the
project moves into execution, that institutional knowledge does not disappear.
It travels with the platform. The next agent, working the next phase, knows
what was decided and why.

That is not how any other AI tool in this space works. Most tools process a
document and return an output. SymphonIQ processes a document and updates what
the organization knows. The platform compounds. Every project makes the next
one smarter.

AEC and energy infrastructure are the right beachheads because the stakes are
high enough to make this architecture necessary. Contracts carry liability.
Schedules carry penalties. In pipeline construction, a single compliance
failure or institutional knowledge gap can cost millions and take years to
resolve. Generic AI tools are not built for that environment. SymphonIQ is.

We are commercially deployed with a nationally recognized construction firm as
our anchor customer and equity investor. We have additional paying customers.
We have a patent-pending architecture. We are raising our seed round. This
hire is the next foundational decision we make.

WHY THIS MOMENT MATTERS

AEC and energy infrastructure together represent trillions of dollars in
annual project volume that still runs on institutional knowledge stored in
people's heads, contract language buried in PDFs, and lessons learned that
never make it from one project to the next. The firms that figure out multi-
agent AI before their competitors do will be structurally different companies
within five years.

Neither industry is forgiving to generic AI tools. In construction, contracts
carry liability and field decisions have safety consequences. In pipeline
construction, a single compliance failure or knowledge gap can carry
regulatory and environmental exposure that follows a firm for years. Any
platform that wants to operate across these workflows has to be built for that
complexity from the ground up, not retrofitted onto a general-purpose AI
framework.

That is the window SymphonIQ is inside right now. We are early to a category
that is just beginning to form, deployed with named customers across both
verticals, and building toward the horizontal platform that serves the full
project lifecycle. The CTO who joins now builds the architecture that every
future customer runs on.

What You Are Actually Building

A production-deployed, AWS Bedrock-native multi-agent platform built for AEC
and energy infrastructure. Specialized agents that share context, retain
institutional knowledge across projects, and operate within the compliance and
risk standards these industries require. Patent-pending architecture. Active
enterprise customers across two verticals. Seed round in process.

You are not building version one of a demo. You are hardening and scaling what
already works.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Platform Architecture
• Own the technical architecture of SymphonIQ's multi-agent governance
platform end to end
• Drive infrastructure decisions across AWS Bedrock, agent orchestration, data
persistence, and API design
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, security posture, and
scalability requirements
• Protect the integrity of our patent-pending architecture across all
development activity

Product and Engineering Leadership
• Partner directly with the CEO on product direction, roadmap sequencing, and
build-versus-buy decisions
• Manage and grow the engineering team as the company raises and scales
• Set the pace and quality bar for delivery on active customer commitments
• Lead technical due diligence with investors and enterprise sales
conversations with sophisticated buyers

Customer and Market Outcomes
• Ensure platform reliability and performance meet enterprise deployment
standards
• Own the technical relationship with our existing delivery partner during the
transition to internal capability
• Build the infrastructure that allows SymphonIQ to onboard and scale new
customers without proportional headcount growth

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The profile is narrow by design. This is not a role for someone who needs a
large team, defined processes, or clear boundaries. It is a role for someone
who operates best when the problem is hard and the mandate is broad.

Technical Requirements

Deep hands-on experience with AWS services at production scale (Bedrock,
Lambda, Neptune, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, S3, Step Functions)
Demonstrated experience building or architecting multi-agent AI systems with
production deployments
Strong background in API design, event-driven architecture, and enterprise-
grade security practices
Fluency in Python and/or TypeScript; comfortable reading and directing code
across a small team
Experience designing systems where shared agent context, institutional memory,
and data provenance are first-class concerns

Leadership and Operational Requirements

Track record of shipping in resource-constrained environments, not just large-
org engineering programs
Comfortable owning both strategy and execution simultaneously at early stage
Able to translate complex architecture into plain language for investors,
customers, and non-technical stakeholders
IP-aware, with experience protecting proprietary architecture in competitive
markets
A builder, not a director. The best work of your career has your hands on it.

What would differentiate a candidate:
• Prior founding or co-founding experience at a technical company
• Experience with agentic AI, LLM orchestration frameworks, or governed AI
infrastructure specifically
• Domain familiarity with construction, AEC, or similarly regulated enterprise
environments
• Experience taking a platform from seed-stage deployment to Series A-scale
customer base

WHAT WE OFFER

This is a founding-level opportunity. The compensation structure reflects
that.

Equity Meaningful founding stake. Specific terms commensurate with stage
contribution and negotiated in context of the seed round.
Cash Compensation Below market pre-seed; structured to scale materially with
seed close. This is an equity-first role.
IP Position Patent-pending architecture filed through Cooley LLP. You join a
company with defensible foundational IP already in process.
Customer Traction Commercially deployed with an enterprise anchor customer who
is also an equity investor. The platform is in production.
Decision Authority Full technical authority from day one. Two-person founding
leadership. No committee architecture.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work directly with Jared Smith, Founder and CEO. Jared architected
the platform philosophy, secured the anchor customer and investor
relationship, drove the patent filing, and closed the initial raise while
running a second company in parallel. He thinks in systems. He communicates
directly. He has no interest in being the smartest person in the technical
room and considerable interest in finding someone who makes that impossible.

What you will get from him is full context on every strategic decision, a
clear division of authority, and a founder who has already done the hard work
of proving this category is real. What he will expect from you is technical
ownership without negotiation. The architecture is yours. The decisions are
yours. The accountability is yours.

You will also work alongside a team of industry and technical advisors who
bring domain depth across AEC, energy infrastructure, and enterprise AI.
SymphonIQ maintains an active relationship with AWS including dedicated
account support and partnership resources. These are not passive
relationships. They are part of how the product gets built and how customers
get landed.

SymphonIQ has an active development partner engaged on current delivery
commitments. The CTO will inherit that relationship and own the transition
toward internal engineering capability as the company scales post-raise.

* * *

The window to join a company at this stage, with this architecture, this
customer, and this market position, is not permanent. We are raising. The team
is forming. The decisions made in the next six months will define what
SymphonIQ is for the next ten years.

If the opportunity is directionally interesting, the right move is a direct
conversation. Bring questions. Bring skepticism. No resume required to start.
