Apply### Embedded Systems Engineer โ Hardware & Firmware
**Tesel ยท Remote (US, UK, or Europe) ยท Contract (Full-Time)**
### About Tesel
Tesel is building premium architectural lighting tiles that reproduce the full
spectrum of natural sunlight. Each tile is a hexagonal module machined from
premium aluminum with precision glass optics and a multi-channel LED spectral
engine. The product is sold through architects and lighting designers for
hospitality, commercial, and high-end residential spaces.
We are seed-funded and moving into engineering validation.
### The Role
You will work alongside the founder to take the Tesel electronics and firmware
from validated schematic through production. The founder designed the full
electrical architecture and firmware platform. The goal of this hire is
parallelism. Two engineers splitting subsystems and working simultaneously to
compress the timeline from EVT through DVT.
The work spans hardware and firmware. You will own entire subsystems end-to-
end: schematic refinement, layout, firmware driver, bring-up, and validation.
How we divide things will be based on your strengths and interests.
The work includes:
* Schematic design and review for a mixed-signal system with LED drivers, power management, and inter-tile communication
* PCB layout in Altium Designer for a dense board with power conversion and analog LED control
* Embedded firmware development in C, including peripheral drivers and real-time control
* Board bring-up, debug, and validation during EVT
* OTA firmware update architecture
* EMC pre-compliance testing and iteration
* Working directly with the contract manufacturer through fabrication and assembly
### You Should Have
* Experience across both hardware design and embedded firmware on the same product
* Designed and laid out mixed-signal PCBs with power and analog sections
* Written production firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers in C
* Taken at least one board from schematic through bring-up and firmware integration
* Strong understanding of switch-mode power supply design
* Proficiency in Altium Designer
* Ability to own a subsystem independently and make sound engineering decisions without close oversight
### Nice to Have
* Experience with LED driver circuits and constant-current regulation
* Familiarity with STM32 microcontrollers
* Experience with differential bus communication protocols
* Background in lighting products or consumer electronics
* Experience with OTA update implementation on embedded targets
### Compensation
Competitive contract rate. Equity participation for the right candidate. This
is a full-time engagement during the EVT-to-DVT phase, with the potential to
become a permanent role as the company scales.
### To Apply
Tell us about a project where you owned both the hardware and the firmware for
a subsystem. What was the hardest part of making them work together? That
tells us more than a resume.
