At Sora Care, weβre on a mission to transform how in-home care is supported in
America. Family caregivers shoulder billions of hours of unpaid work every
year, often without the resources, guidance, or recognition they deserve. Our
platform empowers these caregivers to access the programs, employment
opportunities, training, and tools they need to provide safe, high-quality
care at home. By combining compassionate human support with modern technology,
we help families keep their loved ones in their homes and communities longer,
while strengthening the workforce that powers Americaβs care ecosystem.
Weβre at the earliest stage of our journey- designing and launching our first
product, validating core workflows, and laying the technical and operational
foundation for long-term growth. As our first engineer, youβll shape the
product, system architecture, and engineering culture from day one, joining a
small, mission-driven team of builders who want to solve meaningful problems
at national scale.
As a Founding Mobile Engineer at Sora Care, you will:
* Build our mobile app from scratch: design, build, and ship the first iOS and Android versions using modern cross-platform frameworks (e.g., React Native or Flutter).
* Create a world-class mobile user experience: build clean, intuitive, accessible, and responsive interfaces that support caregivers in their day-to-day workflows.
* Develop the mobile architecture and core feature set that will serve as the foundation for all future versions of the app.
* Build backend APIs and services necessary to power mobile functionality, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
* Design scalable, compliant infrastructure to support operations across multiple U.S. states with unique regulatory and Medicaid program requirements.
* Own critical technical decisions: mobile architecture, state management, deployment workflows, code quality standards, and long-term maintainability.
* Collaborate closely with product, operations, and clinical teams to understand real-world caregiving workflows and translate them into simple, effective mobile features.
* Set up DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for mobile, including automated builds, testing, app-store deployment workflows, and monitoring.
* Ship fast and safely: iterate rapidly while meeting the privacy, security, and reliability expectations of a health-related product handling sensitive information.
Qualifications
* 5+ years of professional engineering experience, including deep experience building iOS and Android apps (React Native, Flutter, or native).
* Proven ability to build and ship 0β1 mobile products as the primary or sole mobile engineer.
* Strong understanding of mobile architecture, performance optimization, offline-first design, and secure data handling.
* Experience with backend development (Node, Python, Go, or similar) and REST/GraphQL APIs. Familiarity with mobile deployment pipelines, app distribution, and App Store / Play Store requirements.
* Experience in early-stage or high-growth environments; comfortable wearing multiple hats.
* Strong technical foundation in infrastructure, data modeling, security, and systems design.
* Strong communicator: able to simplify complex problems, make clear technical decisions, and work cross-functionally.
* Mission-driven and excited about improving the lives of family caregivers across the U.S. Bonus: experience with healthcare, Medicaid, HIPAA, fintech, or other regulated environments.
Preferred Experience:
* Background in home care, caregiver programs, Medicaid waivers, EVV, or eligibility automation.
* Experience building integrations or internal tooling for operational teams.
* Experience supporting production mobile systems, on-call rotations, or monitoring/observability for mobile apps.
Compensation and Benefits:
* Salary Range: $130Kβ$160K, depending on experience
* Equity: Significant grant as a member of the founding team
* Health benefits
* Generous PTO & paid holidays
* Remote-first culture
