### About the Role

We are hiring a **Lead Engineer** to help drive the next phase of RiseTek’s
software platform.

This is an **engineering role first and a leadership role second**. We are
looking for someone who wants to write code, solve hard problems, make
architecture decisions, review work, and directly influence the product
through their own contributions.

You will help lead the technical direction of our platform, oversee and
collaborate with a third-party development team, and work closely with product
and company leadership to ship fast without letting quality fall apart.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys ownership, ambiguity, and
building practical technology for real-world customers.

### What You’ll Do

* Design, build, and ship core features across our software platform.
* Work across the full stack, from backend services and APIs to frontend product experiences.
* Help define architecture, technical standards, and engineering practices.
* Review code from internal and third-party developers with a strong eye for quality, security, maintainability, and product fit.
* Own technical execution on key product initiatives.
* Help improve developer velocity while keeping the codebase clean and stable.
* Partner directly with product leadership to turn customer problems into working software.
* Evaluate and use modern AI-assisted and agentic coding tools where they genuinely improve speed and quality.
* Push back on AI-generated slop, poor abstractions, fragile code, and unnecessary complexity.
* Help build the foundation for a strong internal engineering culture.

### What We’re Looking For

We want someone who is passionate about problem solving, product, and
technology. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving quickly, but has enough
experience to know when speed creates long-term problems.

You might be a great fit if you:

* Are a strong hands-on engineer who still wants to code.
* Have experience leading or mentoring other engineers without needing to become a full-time manager.
* Can operate in a startup environment where priorities move quickly and ownership matters.
* Enjoy working directly with product and business stakeholders.
* Can review code carefully and raise the quality bar.
* Are comfortable managing or coordinating work with a third-party development team.
* Have strong judgment around technical tradeoffs.
* Are excited by AI-assisted development, agentic coding workflows, and modern tooling, but skeptical enough to know when the output is bad.
* Care more about solving real customer problems than chasing trendy architecture.

### Preferred Technical Experience

We do not expect every candidate to check every box, but experience with the
following is highly relevant:

* Full-stack product engineering
* Laravel / PHP
* PostgreSQL
* AWS
* Kubernetes / containerized infrastructure
* REST APIs and backend service design
* Frontend development with modern JavaScript frameworks
* Data-heavy applications, dashboards, reporting, or operational software
* CI/CD, testing, observability, and production operations
* Working with external development partners or distributed teams
