Today’s renters are renting for longer, moving more frequently, and investing
more in their living spaces. Meanwhile, property managers are expanding,
consolidating, and adopting hospitality-inspired strategies to elevate the
resident experience and drive long-term loyalty—what we call the hotel-
ification of rental housing.
Unlocking the full potential of this shift, requires rethinking the renter
relationship and focusing on the critical renewal moment. Too often, valuable
renter-property connections break down at the end of a lease, leading to
costly turnover and a disjointed renter experience. Renew bridges this gap by
helping property managers automate the renewal process, proactively retain
residents, and create a frictionless path for renters to stay within their
preferred property network—whether in the same apartment, a new apartment at
the same property, or at an entirely new location. Renew connects the dots for
renters and turns retention into a proactive business strategy for operators.
**What We’re Looking For**
Renew’s Platform team is responsible for building scalable, reusable, and
reliable infrastructure, tools, and systems that support and accelerate our
internal teams. As Engineering Manager, you will lead, develop and grow our
Platform team, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design and
deliver platform capabilities that drive measurable impact for our teams and
customers. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who enjoys
solving complex technical challenges, mentoring engineers, and driving
operational excellence.
**Qualifications**
* 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in an engineering leadership role.
* Strong background in backend software engineering and cloud infrastructure.
* Hands-on experience in building scalable system architecture and API design.
* Strong track record of mentoring and developing engineers, fostering a culture of technical and operational excellence.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to align technical roadmap to business needs.
* Prior experience in startup environments where balancing speed and reliability is critical.
**What You’ll Do**
* Lead and grow the Platform Engineering team, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
* Partner with Product and Product Engineering to enable high-velocity feature development by building scalable platform capabilities around Renew’s core domain.
* Own and improve our infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and alerting systems.
* Work with Partner Success to evolve the technical tools used to onboard our real estate partners.
* Define and track key platform metrics, using data to guide decision-making.
* Split your time between hands-on development and management responsibilities (~65/35), reducing hands-on time as your team grows.
**Nice to Have**
* Background in B2B SaaS or real estate technology.
* Prior experience leading platform or infrastructure teams.
