Job Description

**About the Role**
We’re looking for a software engineer who brings both technical depth and a
collaborative spirit. This is a fully remote position, which means clear,
proactive communication isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s essential to how we
work. You’ll take on a variety of projects, from automating document
generation to building responsive web applications, and we expect you to bring
your best effort to every one of them.

We care less about checking every box and more about finding someone who
communicates openly, works well with others, and is genuinely invested in
doing good work.

**What You’ll Do**

* Build and maintain PHP-based applications and backend systems
* Automate PDF document generation using PDFlib
* Develop responsive, user-friendly web applications
* Write and optimize MySQL queries; design and manage relational databases
* Work within Linux environments for development, deployment, and scripting
* Communicate clearly and consistently with teammates across time zones
* Contribute ideas, flag blockers early, and keep projects moving forward

**What We’re Looking For**

**Technical Skills**

* Strong proficiency in PHP (OOP, MVC frameworks a plus)
* Hands-on experience with MySQL — schema design, query optimization, stored procedures
* Comfortable in Linux environments (CLI, bash scripting, server configuration)
* Comfortable learning new libraries — you'll work with PDFlib for large-scale document generation (we provide training)
* Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for responsive front-end work

**Soft Skills — These Matter Just as Much**

* Exceptional written communication — you write clearly, concisely, and with context
* Proactive and transparent: you surface problems early, ask questions, and keep people informed
* Collaborative by nature — you treat teammates as partners, not obstacles
* Self-directed and reliable in a remote environment
* You take pride in your work and hold yourself to a high standard

**Nice to Have**

* Experience with version control (Git)
* Familiarity with REST API design and integration
* Cron jobs and task scheduling
* Basic server administration (nginx, managing a VPS)
* SMTP/transactional email (SendGrid, AWS SES)
* AWS or similar cloud hosting (S3, EC2, RDS)
* Web performance basics (caching, query optimization, page load)

**How We Work**
This team is fully remote, so we rely on written communication to stay
aligned. We value engineers who write detailed PR descriptions, give
thoughtful code reviews, and don’t make their teammates guess what’s going on.
We’re collaborative and low-ego — the best idea wins, regardless of where it
comes from.

**How to Apply**
Send us your resume and a brief note about yourself. If you have code samples,
a GitHub profile, or examples of past work you’re proud of, we’d love to see
them. No cover letter required — just tell us a bit about who you are and what
you’re looking for.
