Job Description

Why This Role Exists Pairtu is building the AI operating system for care
navigation — a business-in-a-box platform for patient advocates that blends
high-touch human support with AI-driven workflows. The market is massive
($60B+), the need is urgent, and we have personal stakes in solving it. We’ve
raised VC funding, have healthcare traction, and now need a head of engineer
who codes at a senior level, thrives in ambiguity, and knows how to apply AI
tooling in a production environment. This is not a “manage a dev team” role —
this is architecting, building, and shipping the core product yourself while
the paint is still wet. Lastly, AI has completely made this opportunity more
important than before. You will lead a lot of the testing of AI tools to drive
workflows. A bit about Pairtu We started Pairtu after years of fighting the
system for our own families—Arian’s mom is beating pancreatic cancer today
because he learned to hack insurance rules nobody explains. Our vision:
everyone deserves a fighter like that. Today we mix smart software with human
advocates to guide Medicare patients through diagnoses, bills, and care plans.
Investors from Omada, Oscar, and UnitedHealthcare believe in the mission—and
in the scrappy team of <15 building it. Founded by experienced entrepreneurs
with successful exits and deep healthcare + tech expertise. Backed by top-tier
investors and advisors, including founders and executives from Oscar Health,
Omada, Galileo, One Medical, Ro, United, Uber, and Postmates. We move fast and
execute with purpose, operating with a lean, impact-driven mindset. We're
guided by principles of conscious leadership, a commitment to getting things
done (GSD), and a focus on achieving results through hard work, rapid
iteration, and swift execution. > Pairtu is a fast-moving, high-impact startup
where chaos is the norm, and ownership is key. There’s no playbook—some days,
you’ll put out fires; other days, you’ll build from scratch. If you thrive in
ambiguity, take initiative, and solve problems without waiting for direction,
you’ll fit right in. If you need structure and predictability or ‘need to be a
manager’ this isn’t for you. The upside? You’ll level up and have growth, work
with an elite, A+ team, and make a real impact as we scale. This isn’t a
corporate place, be advised. > 🖥 Tech-Stack:* Python / Django backend, Nextjs
frontend, Aptible, various AI tools + LLM models leverating also OpenAI API &
GeminiWhat You’ll Own 1\. Ship the Core Platform Design, build, and launch the
patient and advocate-facing apps, backend services, and integrations. Move
fast — prioritize shipping value while managing technical debt intentionally.
2\. Build AI-First Workflows Leverage LLMs, APIs, and custom models to
automate intake, triage, and follow-up. Integrate AI into the daily tools
advocates use, from summarization to proactive care nudges. 3\. Develop the
Tech Roadmap Translate ambiguous product needs into clear, buildable
solutions. Decide what to build in-house vs. integrate via third-party APIs.
4\. Collaborate Cross-Functionally Work with clinical, ops, and growth leads
to ensure product solves real user problems. Join early customer calls to see
pain points firsthand. You’re a Fit If You… Have 5+ years full-stack
experience (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Python/Django, Elixir/Phoenix, or similar
backends + React/Next.js or similar frontends). Have shipped production code
in healthcare or another regulated industry. Are fluent in AI development —
prompt engineering, fine-tuning, API integration, vector databases, RAG
pipelines. Can design secure, HIPAA-compliant systems. Have experience with
RESTful APIs, relational databases, and cloud hosting (AWS, GCP, or PaaS like
Aptible/Fly.io). Are 80%+ hands-on coding in your current role and want to
stay that way. Thrive in startup chaos and want a seat at the table in
technical + product decisions. Bonus points if you’ve: You’ve worked with AI
at other startups. Worked directly with EHRs, claims systems, or care
coordination tools. Built internal tooling or workflow automation for ops-
heavy teams. Experience with devops and CI/CD for small teams. Strong Django
and Python skills Familiarity with frontend frameworks and full-stack devops
Background in startups or early-stage product development. Why You’ll Love

architecture to deployment. AI Everywhere: We use AI tools and agents in

patients, care navigators, and partners to ensure what we build makes a real
impact. Founder Mindset: Everyone on the team has started companies before. If
you want to start your own someday, you’ll be part of an environment that
encourages learning What Success Looks Like in 12 Months AI features are
actively used by advocates and reducing manual workload. We’ve proven
scalability, security, and compliance in real-world use. Technical decisions
made early are enabling — not blocking — rapid iteration. Why Join Us We’re
tackling a $60B+ healthcare navigation gap with a model investors and payers

future where every American has access to a personal healthcare navigator. Our
platform is designed to democratize healthcare navigation, offering tools and
resources that were previously unavailable to many. By addressing the
challenges faced by patient advocates and those navigating chronic diseases or
healthcare illiteracy, we're paving the way for a more inclusive and
accessible healthcare system. Culture: We have a distributed culture, mainly
working out of the Americas timezone. We strive to be diverse in thinking, in
