**About Optura**
Optura is on a mission to revolutionize AI deployment in healthcare. Our AI
orchestration platform helps mid-to-large healthcare organizations and tech-
enabled platforms seamlessly build, scale, and operationalize AI in
production. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are hiring a Head of
Engineering to lead the development of our platform and scale our engineering
team.
* _The Role *_
We are seeking a technical, hands-on leader to drive the engineering vision,
strategy, and execution at Optura. This role is perfect for someone who
thrives in an early-stage, high-impact environment and wants to build a world-
class engineering organization. You’ll lead the development of our AI
orchestration platform, infrastructure, and core services—transforming how AI
is deployed at scale.
**What You’ll Do**
**Platform Engineering & Infrastructure**
• Own and scale Optura’s AI orchestration platform, ensuring it is scalable,
secure, and high-performing.
• Design and build multi-tenant, cloud-native architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Implement and optimize AI/ML infrastructure, APIs, and data pipelines to
support real-time AI workflows.
• Lead decisions on containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines,
and DevOps best practices.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and security across all platform
components.
**Software Engineering & Development**
• Architect and develop backend services and APIs that power AI integration
workflows, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as Streamlit, Hugging
Face, LangSmith, PyTorch, and LLM APIs.
• Establish best practices in software design, distributed systems, and event-
driven architectures optimizing for scalability and reliability.
• Oversee full-stack development, collaborating with frontend teams to build
intuitive AI-powered user experiences.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and
vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Qdrant, Lance) to enhance AI-driven
applications.
• Design and optimize databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and data pipelines (e.g.,
Temporal) to support knowledge graphs, recommendation systems, and AI agents.
• Balance hands-on coding with high-level system design and solution
architecture, ensuring smooth AI orchestration in production.
• Define and drive technical roadmaps, coding standards, and engineering
principles, ensuring best practices in building and scaling products, teams,
and architecture.
**Leadership & Team Building**
• Build and scale a high-performing engineering team with hiring, mentoring,
and growing top-tier talent.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and ownership.
• Work closely with product, design, and business teams to align technical
execution with company strategy.
• Scale engineering processes and best practices to support rapid growth.
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years leading teams.
• Proven experience building and scaling cloud-based platforms (AWS, GCP, or
Azure).
• Expertise in backend development (Python, Node.js, Go, or similar) and
distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, DevOps, and AI/ML
infrastructure.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD automation.
• Track record of hiring, leading, and mentoring engineers in a high-growth
environment.
• Startup experience preferred but not required.
• Passion for building game-changing AI-driven platforms (no healthcare
experience needed).
**Why Join Us?**
• Lead the engineering team at a high-growth AI startup.
• Shape the future of AI in healthcare—your work will have a real-world
impact.
• Competitive compensation: $200K - $250K + equity.
• Work alongside experienced founders and top AI experts.
• Remote-first, with a highly collaborative and mission-driven culture.
* _Benefits & Perks *_
• Comprehensive Healthcare : Medical, dental, and vision coverage
• Remote Work : Work from anywhere in the US
• Equity Ownership
If you’re a builder, innovator, and leader who wants to drive the next wave of
AI adoption, we’d love to hear from you.
