**About Autopilot**
Autopilot is building the OS infrastructure and marketplace for autonomous
robot systems. Our platform connects robotic hardware, AI agents, and
operators into a unified operating layer, enabling real-world robotic work to
be deployed, managed, and scaled.
We work at the intersection of AI, robotics, and production software, building
agent-driven systems that interact with physical environments, external APIs,
and human operators. This is not a CRUD app. We’re designing systems that must
be reliable, observable, and understandable. We already have a growing fleet
of robots that are waiting for your software to help them perform better!
**About the Role**
We’re looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join Autopilot’s founding
engineering team.
You’ll work across the full stack - from backend services and agent
infrastructure to user-facing product features, helping build the core
platform that powers our robotics marketplace and operations tools. This role
is highly hands-on and high-ownership, with direct influence over
architecture, product decisions, and engineering standards.
You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and leadership to turn
ambiguous problems into production systems.
**What You’ll Do**
Design and build production backend services in Python to support agent
workflows and platform features
Develop and maintain React-based frontend experiences for operators and
customers
Implement and evolve LLM-powered agent systems, including prompts, tooling,
and orchestration
Design APIs, data models, and system boundaries that scale with product
complexity
Deploy, monitor, and operate services in a cloud environment
Integrate with third-party systems (payments, auth, external APIs)
Contribute to technical direction, architecture decisions, and engineering
best practices
**What We’re Looking For**
**Backend & Platform**
Strong Python experience building and maintaining production systems
Experience with FastAPI or similar modern web frameworks
Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and relational data modeling
Experience deploying containerized services (Docker, Cloud Run, ECS, etc.)
**Frontend**
Practical experience building React applications
Comfort owning features end-to-end, from API to UI
Experience deploying frontend applications (e.g. Vercel or similar)
**AI / Agent Systems**
Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features
Understanding of prompt design, context management, and structured outputs
Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, or retrieval-based systems
Ability to reason about reliability, failure modes, and observability in agent
systems
**Infrastructure & Integrations**
Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or similar)
Familiarity with auth, secrets management, and production environments
Experience integrating external APIs (e.g. Stripe or similar services)
**Ideal Candidate Profile**
You’re a strong full-stack generalist with a bias toward shipping real
systems.
**You:**
Enjoy working across layers of the stack and understanding how systems behave
end-to-end
Are product-minded and consider user impact when making technical decisions
Are comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage tradeoffs
Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical teammates
Have experience in startups or similarly fast-moving environments
You don’t need prior robotics experience, but you should be excited to learn
and build for real-world constraints.
**Why Join Autopilot**
Build foundational infrastructure for autonomous systems and robotics
High ownership and influence as an early engineering hire
Direct collaboration with product, design, and leadership
Opportunity to shape architecture, culture, and technical standards
Meaningful technical challenges at the edge of AI and physical systems
