💰 $150,000 - $220,000 🌍 Seattle, Washington; Remote, Oregon 📅 01/12/2026
**About Us**
At OpenCFO, we’re building the AI-native agentic operating system for the
modern CFO office.
Enterprise finance is complex by nature. Money flows through multiple systems
e.g., banks, ERPs, payment rails, and internal tools, which often do not talk
to each other and further add to the complexity. Our goal is straightforward:
every dollar should be visible, monitored, and handled efficiently.
We’re bringing these systems into one platform. We give finance teams a
unified real-time view of how money moves through the business. Using AI, we
not only show, but also identify issues, recommend what to do next, and do
them.
We’re looking for a **Founding Engineer** to join us early, own critical
systems, and help shape both the product and the engineering culture from day
one.
**What you will do:**
Our stack is Go on AWS with Postgres at the core, and we’re integrating AI
(Gemini today, expanding further) to automate and optimize complex financial
workflows.
* Own core backend systems end-to-end, including APIs, data models, and services powering FX, payments, and financial workflows
* Design and build scalable services in Go, with a strong focus on correctness, performance, and reliability
* Work deeply with AWS infrastructure, including deployment, observability, security, and cost optimization
* Design and operate Postgres schemas for financial-grade systems (idempotency, consistency, auditability)
* Build and integrate AI-powered features using Gemini (and future LLMs) to automate workflows like reconciliation, invoice processing, and decision support
* Collaborate directly with founders on product decisions, system architecture, and technical tradeoffs
* Set engineering foundations: coding standards, system design patterns, CI/CD, and best practices
* Move fast while maintaining quality, balancing startup speed with long-term maintainability
**What you need:**
* Strong experience with Go in production systems
* Solid backend fundamentals: APIs, distributed systems, concurrency, and data modeling
* Hands-on experience with AWS, including deploying and operating production services
* Deep familiarity with Postgres, including schema design, indexing, and performance considerations
* Comfort working in early-stage environments with ambiguity, ownership, and rapid iteration
* Product mindset — you care about why you’re building something, not just how
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs
**Nice to have (but not required)**
* Experience building fintech, payments, or financial systems
* Exposure to LLMs / AI systems (Gemini, OpenAI, etc.) in real products
* Experience with compliance-heavy systems (audit logs, permissions, approvals)
* Previous startup or early-team experience
