Our product engineering group is growing and we’re looking to hire founding
backend engineers. We’re a small team of pragmatic, product-minded engineers
growing extremely quickly.
As part of this role, you will:
* Feel a strong sense of product ownership and actively seek responsibility – we often self-organize on small/medium projects, and we want someone excited to help shape and build Opal’s future.
* Work in an autonomous environment on a close-knit team, with a “startup” feel.
* Partner closely with designers and product leaders to ship lovable experiences. We want to transcend the status quo for banking and fintech software, and many of our customers are startups and appreciate our slick, magical designs.

The ideal candidate for the role:
* Has 2-5 years of backend or full-stack development experience, with knowledge of or excitement to learn Python, Django, React, and endless API's.
* Is passionately product-minded and has experience building and shipping new products.
* Empathizes with users and can channel their perspective to build lovable products.
* Can balance tradeoffs and find creative solutions to accomplish goals.
* Communicates and collaborates effectively with peers and cross-functional counterparts.

The total rewards package at Opal includes base salary. Our salary ranges are
highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated
regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry.
New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise,
geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.
Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:
Canadian employees (any location): CAD 110,000 - 150,000
We are well-funded and looking for engineers ready to fully commit themselves
to building a unicorn in the next 5 years.
