Product Engineer -- Nodiac

About Nodiac

Nodiac develops powered land and turnkey sites for AI data centers. We work
with hyperscalers, neoclouds, and IPPs to identify and develop sites across
the US -- from 2MW distributed facilities to gigawatt-scale campuses.

We're a small team moving fast. We closed our SAFE round, have active
conversations with the largest names in AI compute, and are building the
operational infrastructure to scale to thousands of sites across North
America.

About the Role

NORA is our site intelligence platform -- a collection of tools used daily by
our development team, partners, and investors. It handles everything from
identifying key geographies, visualizations of our individual sites and
regional hubs, and managing our full portfolio of projects in development.

This role has two sides:

**1\. Own and evolve NORA.** You'll take over a substantial
NextJS/Supabase/Mapbox/Vercel web app -- geospatial scoring engines, real-time
pipeline tracking, multi-source data integrations, partner-facing portals --
and bring both engineering rigor and product ambition. Then you'll build the
next wave: smarter screening, deeper data integrations, automated workflows,
working from a real backlog with real users.

**2\. Make the whole company AI-native.** We believe AI should accelerate
every function at Nodiac, not just engineering. Our power developers (the
people getting permits, securing interconnection, negotiating with utilities)
need AI workflows, agents, and tools that make them 10x faster. You'll design
and build those systems -- Claude Code skills, MCP servers,
OpenClaw/Hermes/other agents, whatever the problem demands.

This isn't a role where you maintain someone else's product. You'll shape what
NORA becomes and how an entire startup operates with AI.

What You'll Do

**NORA Platform (60%)**

* Take ownership of the NORA codebase (Next.js 16, Supabase/PostGIS, Mapbox, Vercel)
* Architect for scale: testing, monitoring, performance, and the engineering practices that let us ship fast without breaking things
* Build features from the backlog: screening improvements, scoring refinements, data integrations, partner portal enhancements, reporting
* Integrate new data sources (utility APIs, geospatial data, government datasets)
* Collaborate with the Head of Product on roadmap priorities and with the site development team on what they need from the tool

**AI Enablement (40%)**

* Build AI-powered workflows for the development team (site research, permitting analysis, document processing, competitive intelligence)
* Create and maintain Claude Code skills, MCP servers, and agents tailored to Nodiac's operations
* Extend NORA with AI features: automated site scoring, natural language querying, intelligent alerts
* Train and support the team on AI tools -- not just setup, but designing workflows that actually change how they work
* Stay current on AI tooling (models, frameworks, protocols) and bring what's relevant into the company

**Must have:**

* Strong software engineering fundamentals -- you can look at a fast-moving codebase and know what needs to be fixed, refactored, or thrown away
* Experience with TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Postgres
* You've shipped something meaningful with AI that wasn't a chatbot (show us)
* Genuine fluency with AI development tools -- building with LLM APIs, designing agent architectures, pushing the models until they break and building for the future
* Product sense -- you can talk to a non-technical user, understand their workflow, and build something that actually helps them
* Comfort with ambiguity and speed. You won't have a spec for everything.

**Strong signals:**

* Familiarity with geospatial data, Mapbox, PostGIS, or GIS tooling
* Experience with Supabase, Vercel, or similar modern deployment stacks
* Background in energy, infrastructure, or real estate (or the drive to learn fast)

**Not required:**

* A CS degree (or any degree)
* 10 years of experience. What matters is what you can build.
* Prior startup experience (though it helps to know what you're signing up for)
