### **Job Title: Accounting Manager (NYC or Remote)**

### **About Mandrel**

Mandrel is the modern finance & accounting partner for consumer brands. We
pair experienced accountants with AI-powered software automation to deliver
real-time financial clarity for brands on key metrics with unmatched accuracy
as well as effortless, audit-ready financials at every stage of growth.

We’re a team of experienced product leaders and engineers backed by top-tier
investors like Asymmetric Capital Partners, Construct Capital, and Lux
Capital. Join us in building solutions that provide seamless financial
insights to consumer brands so they can make smarter decisions to grow faster
more profitably.

### **About this role**

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented **Accounting Manager**
to join our Managed Accounting Services team. This role will play a key part
in leading month-end close processes for our clients, ensuring accurate
financial reporting, and supporting complex accounting needs, including
deferred revenue recognition and inventory reconciliation. The ideal candidate
is experienced in CPG environments, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is
confident managing multiple clients and accounting systems.

**You will:**

* Own and manage the full month-end close process for multiple clients, including preparation and posting of journal entries
* Maintain accurate general ledgers, ensuring financial data is complete and GAAP-compliant
* Reconcile complex accounts such as deferred revenue, accrued liabilities, and inventory
* Perform cost accounting duties, including COGS analysis and monthly margin reporting
* Drive the development and maintenance of financial schedules (e.g., prepaid expenses, fixed assets, revenue deferrals)
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and client teams to ensure timely financial deliverables
* Prepare client-specific financial reports and assist with variance analysis and forecasting
* Maintain and document accounting procedures, controls, and policies
* Support system implementations and transitions (e.g., onboarding to NetSuite or Xero)
* Collaborate with product and engineering to shape, test, and implement technology that automates accounting workflows while enhancing the client experience

**You’re a good fit if you have:**

* Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or equivalent a plus)
* 3+ years of experience, preferably within high-growth environments or public accounting — prior experience supporting or managing clients in CPG is a plus (including experience with associated tooling, such as Shopify & Amazon)
* Experience with cost accounting principles and accrual-based accounting
* Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required; experience with NetSuite and Xero strongly preferred
* Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and inventory accounting
* Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
* Strong communication skills and ability to present financial insights clearly to non-accounting stakeholders
* An ownership mentality and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

**Benefits & Perks**

At Mandrel, we're trying to build a culture where initiative and hard work are
rewarded and personal growth is prioritized. Working with us means you’ll
have:

* Exposure to a variety of industries, clients, and financial tech stacks
* A key role in shaping the future of an early-stage startup
* Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven and collaborative team
* Competitive compensation, including salary and equity
* Unlimited vacation (with 15 days encouraged)
* Medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% for you + partial coverage for dependents)
* A flexible, remote work environment (or if you are in NYC, a hybrid work environment)

Mandrel is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and
are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We
encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply. If you’re excited about
shaping trajectory of a fast-growing startup and building impactful solutions,
we’d love to hear from you!
