**About Luxira**
Luxira is a risk intelligence company building a proprietary scoring system
for the built environment. We help operators and insurers quantify building
risk before incidents become claims. We are fully funded, pre-seed, and
targeting our first pilots in Q1 2027. The team is lean, the problem is real,
and the market is large.

**The Role**
This is a specialized founding hire with a clearly defined lane. You own
everything between the physical world and our data platform. Sensor selection,
firmware, device communication, edge reliability, and clean data handoff to
our backend team.
You are not responsible for the scoring engine, the application, or the
business logic. You are responsible for making sure the physical layer works
flawlessly so the rest of the platform can do its job. You report directly to
the CTO.
**What You Will Own**
Evaluating and deploying IoT sensors across fire, water, electrical,
environmental, and occupancy categories in real building environments
Writing, deploying, and maintaining firmware for edge devices with reliable
communication via BLE, WiFi, and cellular protocols
Architecting how sensors communicate with the Luxira platform, selecting the
right protocols and ensuring they hold up in real building conditions
Designing for connectivity loss, device failure, and OTA updates so the system
stays reliable without manual intervention
Delivering structured, reliable data from the edge to the backend team. Your
job ends at the handoff point and that handoff has to be clean every time
Keeping the hardware layer well documented so the broader technical team
always understands what is happening at the edge
**What We Are Looking For**
5 or more years of firmware or embedded systems development with production
IoT deployments in physical environments
Proven track record shipping IoT products that survived real world failure.
Not lab environments, actual deployments
Deep hands on experience with sensor protocols including BLE, Zigbee, WiFi,
and MQTT
Experience with OTA firmware updates, device failure recovery, and maintaining
uptime in uncontrolled environments
Clear communicator who documents well and works effectively alongside a
backend team without needing to own their layer
Experience in regulated or compliance sensitive environments such as SOC2 or
HIPAA is a strong plus
Comfortable working in a lean early stage environment where you define the
process as much as you follow it
**Nice to Have**
Experience with Tuya IoT or similar commercial IoT ecosystems
Background in commercial real estate, senior living, or insurance adjacent
technology
Familiarity with mmWave radar or environmental sensor hardware
Prior experience on a small founding team at an early stage startup
**What We Offer**
$110,000 to $130,000 base salary
