Engineer that loves building and operating complex cloud systems, designs
elegant architecture with pristine APIs/data models, ships rock-solid
implementations, and wants full end-to-end ownershipβturning messy real-world
healthcare data into a technical and architectural work of art.
### Universal Engineering Qualities
* Software engineer and generalist first. You'll be an internal domain expert, but can still pitch in across the stack when needed. No silos. No precious boundaries.
* Responsible approach to AI. We don't purely "vibe". We use AI to gain productivity everywhere we can, and own the outcomes as if they were our own.
* Strong bias for ownership and end-to-end delivery. Take a seed of an idea and make it reality.
* Able to work in a fast-moving early-stage environment where requirements evolve and ambiguity is normal.
* Prior health-tech, digital health, or regulated-data experience is a major advantage (HIPAA, FHIR, wearable data, EHR integrations, etc.).
### Core Responsibilities
* Own the core health-data ingestion and processing layer β integrating wearable APIs, EHR/FHIR data, PDF extraction outputs, and other structured/semistructured inputs into clean, queryable domain objects.
* Design and maintain data APIs consumed by web and mobile clients, as well as AI agents and subsystems.
* Continue development of the existing Python app or guide a deliberate reboot if a different stack proves more strategic.
* Lead infrastructure strategy across IaC, build+release, observability, HIPAA-aligned security posture, and scaling strategy.
### Preferred Experience
* Expertise in at least one server-side language, and willingness to work across others as needed. The current base stack is Python (FastAPI), Postgres in AWS via Terraform.
* Prior work with FHIR/HL7 and EHR integrations, wearables (Apple Health, Oura, Withings, etc.), or data-modeling in healthcare.
* Comfortable navigating early-stage infra balancing product development efficiency while establishing the right long-term patterns and hardened security.

### Interview Process
1. Meet with the team across 3 separate video calls up to one hour
2. _Paid_ mini-project where we can actually work together on a real business/product problem. We'll work with you on how and when this can be accomplished based on your schedule and availability.
**Compensation:** $150,000-$200,000 based on experience, with flexibility for
more advanced individuals. Plus additional equity.
