**About the Role**
We are looking for a research leader to join our research staff. This is a
hands-on, high-impact role focused on scientific exploration and
experimentation. You'll work closely with the Chief Scientist to explore new
hypotheses, design and lead experiments, and identify breakthrough methods in
AI — with a focus on continual learning, neuro-symbolic systems, and beyond.
This role requires deep scientific expertise, strong experimental thinking,
and the ability to translate abstract research into concrete innovation.
**Responsibilities**
* Co-lead research initiatives with the Chief Scientist — from hypothesis generation to experimental design and validation.
* Explore and prototype new architectures, learning methods, and reasoning mechanisms.
* Drive research strategy to align with long-term product and company goals.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure research outcomes are implementation-ready.
* Track and contribute to relevant academic and industry research; represent the company in the scientific community.
**Required Qualifications**
* Proven track record in AI/ML research, ideally with experience leading experimental or exploratory research programs.
* Strong scientific background in one or more of the following: physics, mathematics, computational neuroscience, generative models, or cognitive architectures.
* Exceptional ability to formulate and test hypotheses in complex systems.
* Experience managing or mentoring research teams.
* Familiarity with LLMs, transformers, and alternatives.
* Familiarity with the Julia ecosystem.
* Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Publication record in top-tier AI/ML venues.
* Experience collaborating with both theoretical and applied research teams.
