* _The role *_

We are looking for someone to lead custom software implementations for our
clients and aid in the development and maintenance of our SaaS Operations
Improvement platform, ChartEx.

Creating software at Chartwell Digital to support operational excellence is a
technically rigorous undertaking. Chartwell consultants meet a high bar of
capability, and we are building software to support and enhance their robust
application of Chartwell methodologies on client sites.

Reporting to the Tech Lead, you will own the design and development of rapidly
implemented custom digital tools for our clients as well as assist with the
development and maintenance of the flagship Chartwell Digital projects,
working collaboratively with the Chartwell Digital team and the wider
Chartwell consultants and clients. As a Solutions Engineer, you will be
expected to lead interactions with the client, from reporting out to senior
leadership to receiving feedback from users. We need our engineers to be
versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic to take on new
problems across the full stack, always delivering in accordance with best
practice.

The role is remote with expected travel of 10-15%, and you will ideally live
within a few hours of our office in Boston or in CT/ET, but not required. Open
to UK/DE/Canada as well.

* _Responsibilities: *_

Own the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of custom
client software, end to end.

Build and enhance features on ChartEx, our SaaS operations-improvement
platform.

Develop on-site tools that drive user adoption and measurable manufacturing
process improvement.

Lead the technical side of client engagements, from scoping requirements to
presenting results to senior stakeholders.

Keep projects on track by managing priorities, deadlines, and deliverables,
and keeping teams aligned on goals and timelines.

Balance a roughly 50/30/20 split across post-sales delivery, SaaS platform
development, and pre-sales scoping and development.

Support the growth of the Chartwell Digital team by sharing knowledge and
raising the technical bar.

* _Minimum qualifications: *_

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of experience with full stack software development, and 1+ year of
experience in a client-facing role, such as Technical Delivery or Solutions
Engineering or Consulting.

Familiarity with most of our stack (PostgreSQL, FastAPI, Next.js, TypeScript,
Azure).

Experience rapidly developing and deploying functional applications for
clients.

* _Desirable qualifications: *_

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related
technical field.

Experience setting technical direction on projects.

Experience working in or with manufacturing organizations.

Experience working in an agile environment, with knowledge of key agile
processes and testing methodologies.

Familiarity with the wider client-side platforms we work with (AWS, MS Power
Platform, dash apps).

Exposure to embedded development (C++/Rust) β€” a niche plus, not required.

Strong skills in Python and front-end development (JavaScript and/or
TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or equivalent).
