**Position Overview**
We're on the lookout for a Software Engineer with a backend focus to become a
pivotal hire within our Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone eager
to mold our technology direction, spearhead innovation, and guarantee the
delivery of robust, scalable, and efficiently performing solutions. Above all,
this position will focus on delivering performant products to our clients and
hotel customers. You will work with Python, FastAPI, Postgres, Docker, and AWS
cloud services to develop robust APIs and backend infrastructure for our AI-
powered personalization engine.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Develop and maintain backend services using Python and PostgreSQL
* Develop robust integration with both new and legacy systems, including external 3rd-party APIs and data sources
* Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver a cohesive user experience
* Implement and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud-based applications using AWS services
* Troubleshoot and debug issues in live production environments
* Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning
* Stay up-to-date with modern backend technologies and propose improvements
**Qualifications:**
* 3+ years of experience in backend development, shown professional experience with Python APIs (REST, gRPC/Avro)
* Experience with other backend languages such as Java or Go
* Experience interfacing and integrating with 3rd party APIs and SDKs
* Strong knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, GCP, and Vercel
* Knowledge of SQL required (Postgres, MySQL, etc)
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure application architectures
* Demonstrated skill in navigating complex problem-solving, code optimization, and project management
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience working in a startup environment and delivering code to production consistently
