Job Description

Company: Station Sciences

* Location: San Francisco (Hybrid or Remote)
* Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 USD
* Opportunities: Equity, Bonus Potential, Revenue Share Models
* Benefits: Healthcare, Dental, 14 days PTO

tl;dr: We're looking for a motivated full-stack engineer to join our 3 person
studio. **Your primary focus will be shipping a well-funded, AI-powered SaaS
platform for our key client.** As a core member of our team, you will also
have a huge say in our culture and future by helping build our internal AI OS.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build impactful products from day one.

### About Station Sciences

* Station is a small product studio. We're currently a team of three: myself ([www.jarren.rocks](http://www.jarren.rocks)) and two other founding engineers.

* Our primary focus is an AI OS Startup, exploring new ways to interact with computers, tools, and the web. We’re bootstrapping our product early on through our client partnership and treat their project with the same passion as our own. **We have no intention of scaling our agency work beyond a few key clients.**

### About The Role

* For the next 6-12 months, your primary mission will be to accelerate feature development and scale the architecture for our key client's SaaS platform, preparing it for a wider user base.

* The client has partnered with us to build a specialty platform for F500 marketing teams. The product takes advantage of their proprietary dataset to validate audience interest and then generate creative campaigns using data-backed generative content. We've shipped a working MVP, have clear market validation with multiple Enterprise clients, and now we need to scale.

* As a core member of our studio, you will also be instrumental in our internal R&D, helping define and build the foundation of Station's own technology.

### Why You Should Join Us

* Early-Stage Upside, De-Risked: At Station, you get the ownership and equity upside of a founding team role while avoiding the existential risk of a typical VC-backed startup. Our existing client partnership provides revenue and stability, which allows us to be intentional with our internal products and grow free from VC pressure.
* Build with Taste & Tact: We prioritize design-forward research and a low-ego culture. We believe the user is the hero, not us. We're inspired by 37Signals, Obsidian, and other long-running private businesses that appear counter-cultural to the typical tech ethos.
* True Ownership & Impact: Work directly with me and our growing team in a high-trust environment where your voice is equal to ours. Depending on the product and your involvement, there will be opportunities for bonuses, equity, or revenue share.
* A Rising Tide Raises All Ships: We see ourselves as a partner in your career. We actively encourage you to build your personal brand and explore your own projects, as your individual growth strengthens our entire team. We're exploring unique ways to support this, from personal brand advisory to providing access to our studio resources.

### What You'll Be Doing

* Develop new features (both traditional and AI) and refine user flows on a sophisticated SaaS platform.
* Serve as a technical anchor for the studio, establishing engineering standards and helping mentor new developers as our team scales.
* Contribute to the architectural evolution of our client's platform, including the migration of databases and backend services to AWS to support enterprise scale.
* Contribute to DevOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering best practices to ensure a reliable deployment process as our codebase grows.
* Build and optimize data-backed AI workflows that generate text, images, and more. Work with a medium-to-large sized survey dataset to deliver powerful insights to users.
* Help build out our automated testing infrastructure and occasional manual QA to ensure quality.
* As a founding team member, collaborate on and lead the initial build-out of our core internal products (starting with the AI OS).
* Contribute to R&D, experiment with new technologies, and help define our internal product roadmap.
* Shape the company by contributing to our business strategy and culture.

### What We’re Looking For

* Deep curiosity for AI; you regularly use tools like Openclaw, Voice Transcription, Cursor or Claude and keep up with the latest models and techniques.
* Proven experience working and delivering rapidly in a low-structure environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take high ownership of your work from concept to completion.
* 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong portfolio or GitHub profile showcasing shipped projects.
* Experience in a "player-coach" or technical lead capacity during a company's growth phase, with a proven ability to guide architectural decisions and upskill peers.
* A product-minded pragmatist who can balance technical excellence with the drive to ship quickly and learn from users.
* Experience scaling applications from MVP to mature platforms, specifically dealing with database optimization, infrastructure scaling, and technical debt.
* Hands-on experience managing and migrating cloud infrastructure (e.g., transitioning from managed services like Supabase or Vercel to custom AWS environments).
* A passion for building exceptional user experiences and a keen eye for detail.
* Excited to be an early hire and help build a world-class engineering culture with a high-ownership, low-ego mindset.
* Pumped to work in person; we believe great things happen when we collaborate directly.
* (Plus) Experience or interest in C++, WASM, Consumer Hardware, or Integrated Systems.

### Client Project Tech Stack

* Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind
* Backend: Next.js, Supabase, AWS
* Infrastructure: Vercel
* AI: OpenAI APIs, Anthropic, Vercel AI SDK, various other models and tools.

### The Interview Process

* At each stage, we decide within 24 hours and update you shortly after.
* Intro Call (30 min): Informal chat with me (Jarren) to get to know each other, discuss the role, and see if there’s a mutual fit.
* Practical Project (~2 hours): We’ll provide a project for you to complete on your own time that reflects our daily work and showcases your skillset.
* Technical Session (75 min): We'll start by discussing your project implementation. Then, we'll move into a collaborative session to whiteboard a new feature. The goal is to see how you think about problems, translate user needs into technical specs, and work through trade-offs.
* Final Chat & Offer: A final conversation to discuss any remaining questions before making a formal offer.
