**Background:**
MiraDx is a biotechnology research company currently focused on personalized
cancer therapies. We're looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer to join our
software engineering team.
As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting,
developing, and maintaining our web application. It's currently a full-stack
Javascript application (React, Typescript, Next.js), though we plan to move
off Next.js in the coming months. You will collaborate regularly with other
teams to design and implement back-end solutions that are flexible,
performant, and intuitive. This role reports directly to the VP of
Engineering.
**Schedule:**
The engineering team is fully remote, and you will need to have at least 5
hours overlap with 8AM-5PM Pacific Time. There are two mandatory, teamwide
meetings on Wednesday from 10AM-1PM Pacific Time.
**Responsibilities:**
This job requires a true self-starter. You will be expected to do requirements
gathering, translate those requirements into technical work, and then
implement that work on your own. Many things in the existing codebase need to
be rewritten / productionized and we are a small team, so there is a massive
opportunity for shaping the technical direction of the back-end architecture.
* Architect, develop, and maintain the back-end of our web application following best practices and coding standards
* Collaborate with other team members, including Design, Client Services, Internal Lab Technicians, and Front-End Engineering
* Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
* Debug and troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolutions
* Actively lead and/or contribute to back-end technical discussions
**Qualifications:**
* Minimum 8 years experience in back-end web development
* Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, especially as it relates to database design, API design, and workflow automation
* Strong understanding of software development best practices such as version control, code reviews, and automated testing
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
**Nice to Haves:**
* Experience in healthcare or other industries requiring regulatory compliance
* Experience with TypeScript
* Experience with Azure

**Notes:**
* We're looking for a full-time employee, but this will begin as a 6-week contract-to-hire position.
