Apply### **Company Overview**
Cubilete Cup is a competitive multiplayer mobile game inspired by the classic
Cuban dice game Cubilete. Built in Unity with a Firebase + TypeScript backend
and Photon multiplayer, the game brings a fast-paced bluffing experience to
mobile players around the world.
Our goal is to scale the game rapidly and position it for major publisher
partnerships or acquisition. The project is already on the radar of large
mobile publishers, and we are focused on shipping the most stable and scalable
version of the game so we can begin marketing at scale.
We are a small, highly focused team working toward a major launch window.
**The Role**
We are looking for a Principal Backend Engineer who can take ownership of our
backend architecture and help bring the game across the finish line.
This role is primarily focused on TypeScript and Firebase backend development,
while coordinating with Unity engineers and interns working on the client.
You will work directly with the founder and lead engineers to finalize
infrastructure, improve stability, and prepare the system to support large-
scale player growth.
This is a hands-on engineering role with leadership responsibilities.
**Responsibilities**
β’ Own and maintain the Firebase + TypeScript backend architecture
β’ Build and maintain Cloud Functions and backend game logic
β’ Integrate and support Photon Fusion multiplayer services
β’ Improve backend performance, reliability, and scalability
β’ Guide and mentor Unity engineers and engineering interns
β’ Help prepare the platform for large-scale player growth
β’ Contribute production code daily
β’ Help ship the final stable versions of the game
**Tech Stack**
Primary
β’ TypeScript
β’ Firebase (Cloud Functions, Firestore, Auth)
β’ Unity / C#
β’ Photon Fusion
Nice to Have
β’ Real-time multiplayer game architecture
β’ Serverless infrastructure experience
β’ Mobile game analytics and scaling
β’ Experience preparing games for publisher relationships
**Compensation**
Because the project is currently operating under an LLC structure and has not
begun generating revenue, this role is structured as an equity-first position
during the final development phase.
Wellfound requires a salary range to be listed, so the range shown reflects
the intended annual compensation once revenue, funding, or acquisition
milestones are reached.
**Compensation structure:**
β’ Initially equity-based participation while we finalize the game and launch
marketing
β’ Equity allocation triggered once the company converts to a C-Corp or upon
acquisition
β’ Salary activation begins once the game reaches revenue milestones or
external funding is secured
This role is ideal for someone who wants to help ship a real product and
participate in the upside of a successful launch or publisher acquisition.
**Why This Role Is Unique**
β’ You will own the backend architecture of a real multiplayer game
β’ Work with a small team shipping quickly
β’ Help prepare the game for publisher partnerships and potential acquisition
β’ Join at the final stage before scale and marketing
**Ideal Candidate**
You are someone who:
β’ Enjoys building real products, not just prototypes
β’ Can take ownership of backend systems
β’ Is comfortable working in a small startup environment
β’ Wants to help scale a multiplayer game from thousands to millions of players
**Location**
Remote
**Final Note**
We are looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful and share
in the upside, not just collect a paycheck.
If youβre excited about helping ship a multiplayer game and preparing it for
scale, weβd love to talk.
