Job Description

Responsibilities
• Assist with the preparation, cleaning, and management of genomic datasets.
• Perform basic analyses using established bioinformatics tools (e.g., FASTQC,
BWA, GATK).
• Collaborate with senior team members to develop and test data pipelines.
• Contribute to data visualization efforts, creating charts and summaries for
internal review.
• Document findings and methodologies, maintaining detailed research notes and
code repositories.
• Participate in team meetings and presentations, sharing progress and
insights.

Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics,
Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Alternatively, may be a high school student that shows promise
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (Python, R, or similar).
• Basic understanding of molecular biology and genomics concepts (e.g., DNA
sequencing, gene expression).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the willingness to learn
new technologies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)
• Experience with Linux command-line environment.
• Exposure to machine learning or statistical modeling.
• Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git).
• Coursework or project experience in genomics, proteomics, or related omics
fields.

Internship Details
• Duration: Typically 10–12 weeks (flexible based on university schedules).
• Hours: Part-time (10–20 hours/week) or full-time (30–40 hours/week),
depending on availability.
• Compensation: No salary. Stipend compensation or financial aid availiable
• Location: On-site
