**About us**

70 million Americans live with sleep disorders. Half are misdiagnosed as
depression or anxiety, and the average wait for a sleep specialist is over six
months. Lunera Health is building an AI-native virtual sleep platform that
eliminates that wait: a multidisciplinary platform where sleep specialists,
nurse practitioners, therapists, and psychiatrists work alongside AI agents to
treat the full spectrum of sleep disorders, addressing the medical,
behavioral, and lifestyle factors of sleep health in one coordinated care
journey. We're founder-led, clinically grounded (our Chief Medical Officer
directs a university sleep disorders center at a leading academic
institution), and preparing our fundraise with committed development partners
already building our integration layer.

**The role**
You'll be the first engineering hire and own the AI layer of the platform end
to end. External partners are building our EHR and device integrations (Canvas
Medical FHIR, wearables, CPAP, home sleep tests). You'll design the
intelligence that coordinates care across the whole clinical team:

* An AI pre-visit intake agent that replaces static forms with adaptive interviews and writes structured SOAP notes directly to the EMR
* A patient interaction bot grounded in full patient context, including device data, medications, and care plans across every provider on the care team, with hard safety escalation rules
* The retrieval and orchestration layer: RAG over a clinical knowledge base, LLM routing, PHI de-identification, and human-in-the-loop approval for anything clinical
* Evaluation frameworks that prove clinical accuracy. This is healthcare; "seems right" doesn't ship

You'll also set technical direction across the platform, review our
development partners' work, and shape the architecture your future team
inherits.

**You**

* Must be United States Citizen
* BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience with a strong shipped-product track record
* Have shipped LLM-powered products to production: agents, RAG pipelines, or conversational systems, not just prototypes
* Are strong across the stack: Python, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), and comfortable owning systems from model to API
* Care about evaluation, guardrails, and failure modes. Bonus if you've worked under HIPAA or in another regulated domain
* Want the founding-engineer trade: broad ownership, direct input on product and hiring, equity that matters
* Bonus: FHIR/healthcare data experience, voice/speech interfaces, or clinical NLP

page with real patient data flowing into it. It's yours to design.
